Preparation
Hardware requirements
Section titled “Hardware requirements”- CPU: min. 8 CPUs (linux/amd64 platform)
- RAM: min. 16 GB
- Harddisk: min. 500 GB. The disk pool for file blobs grows continuously — plan for a dedicated partition or volume, see Configuration.
- OS: Linux (Debian/Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or newer, RHEL 9.4 or newer)
Network
Section titled “Network”- Outbound HTTPS to
registry.onstackit.cloudfor pulling the images - Access to your SMTP server
- Access to your LLM provider, if the AI middleware is used
Dependencies
Section titled “Dependencies”On the container host:
-
Docker Engine with the Compose plugin:
Terminal window docker --versiondocker compose versionBoth must answer. The output looks like this — your versions will differ:
Docker version 29.7.2, build 3f4a2b1Docker Compose version v5.4.0No particular version is required on either line; any currently supported release works. What matters is that
docker composeanswers at all, which means the plugin is installed. Two cases that do not work:
'compose' is not a docker command— the plugin is missing and has to be installed.- only a separate
docker-composebinary reporting1.x— that is the superseded standalone version. This guide uses the top-levelname:, serviceprofiles:anddocker compose run --entrypoint, none of which it supports.
-
PostgreSQL client (
psql) — used once during installation to create the schema.
On the database server:
- A PostgreSQL 16 or newer instance reachable from the container host. The application database is created with the ICU collation provider. ICU support reaches back to PostgreSQL 15, but the platform has only been operated on 16 and newer, so that is the supported floor.
